Information about companies and industries, current and historical news, legal and economic literature as well as statistics can be obtained from external commercial databases or through DG Competition Library's collections and resources. If necessary, specific studies may be commissioned from external experts.

In order to gather information about a given economic sector, contacts may be taken with other Commission services (Eurostat, DG ENTR, …).

Information may be obtained also through informal contacts with National Competition Authorities (hereafter NCA).
